Two Seasons, One Development Standard

Outdoor Program

Outdoor programming typically runs from June through August at Toronto Hawks parks in North York. Exact days, venues, session frequency and festival information are published for each outdoor season so families always receive the current details.

Indoor Program

The Indoor 2026–27 program offers a 3-month Fall option and a 6-month Fall & Winter option. Smaller spaces and carefully managed groups create more involvement, quicker decisions and more direct coaching.

What a Session Looks Like

Ages 5–7 — 60 Minutes

  • 10–15 minutes: playful warm-up and movement preparation, helping children learn how to get ready for activity.
  • About 30 minutes: creative games and friendly challenges developing ball skills, balance, coordination, body awareness and decision-making.
  • Final 15–20 minutes: age-appropriate team games and a gradual introduction to small-sided soccer.

Each session totals 60 minutes; coaches adjust the blocks to suit the group. Early sessions may focus on confidence, basic skills and getting to know teammates before introducing matches. Groups of around 20 players learn through imaginative play, friendly competition and encouragement.

Ages 8–10 — 90 Minutes

  • First 15 minutes: dynamic warm-up and physical preparation
  • Development blocks: one or two focused activities covering technique, movement, decision-making or Sport IQ
  • Game application: small-sided play that connects individual skills with passing, positioning and teamwork.

Training-focused and match-focused weeks alternate. Coaches get to know the players during the opening weeks, then form balanced teams—typically four teams of around six, depending on enrolment. Players practise communicating, respecting teammates and opponents, and taking responsibility for their role. Friendly competition supports learning and enjoyment.

Older Players — Building on the Foundations

From age 10 onward, sessions progressively introduce more fitness and movement work alongside soccer skills. Coaches focus on body control, posture during movement, coordination and age-appropriate conditioning, together with attacking and defending decisions. The challenge increases with players’ readiness, while teamwork, discipline and communication remain central.

Selected groups offer two sessions per week. Check the schedule for each option’s exact age range, venue and training days.
